Born and raised in Sacramento, California, Demetri Gregorakis is an experienced and celebrated Web Designer and Technical Authority.  The marriage between the two worlds of tech and design brings a prestige to each website Demetri models.  The creative side produces exquisite web design, while the techie side brings the added value of function into the mix; something Demetri knows all too well, most web designers fail to bring to the table.

Demetri grew up in a technical-minded family- his grandfather working for NASA and Aerojet and his mother and uncle working for Intel, all 3 electrical engineers.  Demetri’s start in the technology world was obviously no choice of his own.  This is not to say that having no choice but to grow up surrounded by circuit boards and custom built computers was something Demetri didn’t like; he spent most of his free time experimenting on spare parts lying around his grandfather’s property and various workshops. The experiments didn’t end there.

“When I got older (around 12), I moved on from physical design schematics, wiring and the like, into more creative avenues,” says Gregorakis, “I was interested in not only interior design, but art and graphic design as well- it was only natural for me to learn HTML and start creating web pages.”  This was when the internet was still growing into what it is today, and Demetri’s knowledge and design techniques “grew up” right along with the pace of the internet’s growth.  “I didn’t learn web design techniques after they were implemented; I learned them as they were being created.”  Gregorakis attributes this early adoption to his success today, stating “I know the core architecture of the web, it’s second nature, this allows me to remain in a creative mindset without stressing over functionality, and I believe it gives me an advantage over other web designers.”

These days, Demetri operates Gregorakis Interactive firm on 3 simple but fundamental ideas:

1. Stay flexible and current with not only each client, but with each client’s individual projects.
2. Base web design on marketing goals, and encourage dynamic goal setting for what each project should accomplish.
3. Endeavor to support local, independent and socially responsible companies.
